AllShield Blue Roof Coating FM 4482 Approved

AllShield Blue is officially FM 4482 Approved. This mineral coating creates an extra fire-resistant layer on existing roofs and makes them recognized as Class 1 Roofs – fire-safe and insurable.

FM 4482 Approved

Since February 2025, AllShield Blue is officially FM 4482 Approved. This means our mineral roof coating complies with the strictest international standard for flat roofs without PV panels.

For roof owners and insurers, this brings direct assurance: a roof with AllShield Blue can achieve an FM Class 1 Fire Rating and is recognized as low risk and fully therefore insurable. Because AllShield Blue is applied directly as an extra layer on top of the existing membrane, fire safety is achieved without the need to fully replace the roof system.

Insurers that base their risk assessments on FM standards can now insure roofs with AllShield Blue.

What is FM 4482?

FM 4482 is the Approval Standard for Roof Coverings. The standard specifically applies to coatings and liquid-applied roof layers without PV panels.

The test evaluates complete roof assemblies on:

• External and internal fire resistance – no rapid flame spread, no burn-through, no falling debris.
• Wind uplift – resistance against storm damage.
• Hail resistance – protection against severe weather impact.
• Durability – resistance to UV, aging, and maintenance stress.

Only roof assemblies that pass all these tests or elements of the test are waived by FM are listed in RoofNav as FM Approved.

Why insurers require FM 4482

FM 4482 is the global reference for fire safety of roofs with liquid-applied coatings without PV. Insurers use this standard because a roof without FM classification poses a significantly higher risk of rapid fire spread.

• Class 1 Roof (FM 4482) → recognized as low risk, internationally insurable, often with lower premiums.
• Non-classified roof → high risk, often difficult or impossible to insure.

With the Approval of AllShield Blue, certainty is created: insurers know that roofs with this coating comply with the highest international requirements.

AllShield Blue is a mineral-based liquid coating that is now officially FM 4482 Approved.
