BouwTotaal presents AllShield Blue as a powerful solution for safeguarding flat roofs against fire. This non-combustible, mineral-based coating is easily sprayed onto existing bitumen roofs, reflects sunlight to boost PV performance, and extends the roof's lifespan, all with a single solution.
AllShield Coatings has developed a non-combustible mineral coating that can be easily sprayed onto existing bitumen roofing. The white color of this ‘AllShield Blue’ coating reflects sunlight, resulting in higher energy yields from PV panels and reducing heat stress on the building. Additionally, the coating extends the lifespan of the bitumen roof.
“I’m strongly motivated to drive innovation and sustainability in the construction sector,” says Olivier Langejan, director of business development at AllShield Coatings. This company produces fire-resistant coatings not only for its own applications but also for those of INpakt, a company he owns.
INpakt supplies lightweight, non-combustible, screwable façade panels with the appearance of traditional brickwork, all made possible by AllShield Coatings’ fire-resistant technology. INpakt is now part of AllShield Coatings, which also specializes in coatings that reinforce prefab construction elements, concrete repair coatings and fire-resistant solutions for infrastructure.
Throughout his career, he witnessed the devastating environmental impact of traditional construction methods and materials. Driven by the conviction that more sustainable alternatives are both possible and essential, he founded AllShield Coatings in 2014. Leendertse developed the innovative fire-resistant coating AllShield Blue, a major step toward sustainable construction. This coating makes it possible to install solar panels on many more rooftops, helping to preserve agricultural land.

AllShield Blue consists of natural minerals, water and a glass fiber fleece. This eco-friendly coating does not leach into rainwater and is fully recyclable. Olivier explains: “The coating is applied in three layers on top of a bitumen roof. We start by spraying the base layer, into which we embed a fiberglass fleece. On top of that comes a protective topcoat. With a total thickness of just 3 to 4 mm, the coating cures within 15 to 25 minutes and is walkable after 45 minutes. Once hardened, the coating is as tough as stone, that’s why I often refer to it as ‘cast stone’.”
The coating has been successfully tested according to NEN 6063 ‘Determination of the fire hazard of roofs’ and NEN 7250 ‘Solar energy systems – Building integration in roofs and façades – Architectural aspects’ by Kiwa BDA Testing B.V. and Efectis. It can withstand temperatures up to 1300 °C.
Flat roofs – especially those with solar panels – face an increasing fire risk. Even the best fire-retardant membranes offer limited protection against flying sparks or thermal ignition beneath PV panels. That’s why AllShield developed two non-combustible fire protection systems, each tailored to a specific application.
