The existing roof was renovated with AllShield Blue, FM Approved fire-resistant roof coating. Instead of a costly and wasteful tear-off, the bitumen surface was preserved and coated, extending its service life and upgrading its performance.
Flat roofs with combustible materials such as bitumen or EPS insulation present a serious fire risk, especially when combined with solar panels. Short circuits, flying embers or external ignition sources can quickly trigger roof fires.
By applying AllShield Blue, the Yuverta roof is now protected with a non-combustible layer. This prevents ignition of the membrane and insulation, reduces available fuel for fire, and ensures that small flames extinguish themselves naturally. These properties are key to meeting the requirements of FM Approvals and EN 13501-5, standards often demanded by insurers before covering buildings with solar panel installations.
The reflective white coating of AllShield Blue significantly lowers rooftop surface temperatures. This reduces the need for cooling inside the building, lowers energy costs, and creates a more comfortable learning environment for Yuverta’s students and staff.
In addition, the coating extends the lifespan of the bitumen roof, avoiding unnecessary construction waste and contributing to more sustainable building management.
Extended lifespan of the bitumen roof without full replacement
Fire-safe and insurable roof, ready for solar panel installation
Compliance with FM and EN fire safety standards
Improved energy efficiency and indoor comfort
Reduced environmental impact through reuse of existing materials
With the application of AllShield Blue, Yuverta Nijmegen now has a roof that is durable, insurable, and fully prepared for solar energy. The project highlights how AllShield solutions combine fire safety, sustainability, and cost efficiency—delivering future-proof protection for flat commercial roofs.
