Garage Mitsubishi van Veldhuizen Roof Fireproofed with AllShield BarrierSheets

The existing roof structure, consisting of EPS and bitumen, was overlaid with an impressive 200-120 mm tapered PIR insulation. Thanks to the use of the AllShield BarrierSheet and PVC membrane, the increased weight remains within the maximum permanent roof load determined by the Scope 12 calculations, making the installation of solar panels possible.

For the client, this project represents an important step in the sustainability of the company, while for the insurance company, it provides an accepted fire-safe solution.

Since PV panels typically have a lifespan of around 25 years (depending on variation), it makes sense to install a new roof covering that will last just as long–or longer. After all, you don’t want to dismantle your PV system after only 12 years to replace the roofing.

By applying the AllShield BarrierSheet underneath a PVC membrane, you ensure lightweight fire protection and a new waterproof roofing layer in one go. Tests carried out at Troned have clearly shown that the AllShield BarrierSheet effectively reduces fire spread underneath and next to PV panels, preventing the development of large, uncontrollable roof fires.

Thanks to AllShield BarrierSheets, our insurer is now willing to provide coverage.
