Many companies want solar panels but face refusal from their insurer. AllShield provides non-combustible solutions that make flat roofs fire-safe and insurable. Independently tested by FM, ZAG and KIWA.
Many commercial roofs in Europe are built with combustible materials such as bitumen or EPS insulation. For insurers, that is a reason to refuse solar panels or accept them only with very high premiums.
AllShield provides a proven solution: non-combustible roofing systems that significantly reduce fire risk and convince insurers.
AllShield BarrierSheet – mineral, non-combustible roof board that protects insulation and stops fire spread.
AllShield Blue – mineral roof coating (FM Approved as repair coating for roofs without PV) that reflects sunlight, extends roof life, and prevents ignition.
Flat roofs with bitumen, EPS, PIR or PUR are combustible.
Failures in PV installations (connectors, hotspots, DC isolators) are common ignition sources.
Combustible roof layers allow small incidents to develop into major roof fires.
Result: insurers refuse coverage or impose unacceptable conditions.
BarrierSheet acts as a fireproof layer directly under the roofing membrane.
Blue provides a non-combustible, reflective top coating.
The result: fire remains limited to the source, insulation and structure are protected, and insurers see a significantly reduced risk profile.

| Well-insulated, watertight roof | Clean, apply primer, finish with AllShield Blue | Adds a fire-resistant layer without replacing existing components. |
| Well-insulated, watertight but upgrade needed | BarrierSheet under new waterproofing membrane | Extends roof life while adding fire safety. |
| Well-insulated, old waterproofing | BarrierSheet + new waterproofing | Old membranes are combustible – replacement plus BarrierSheet eliminates the risk. |
| Poor insulation, new waterproofing required | PIR insulation + BarrierSheet + new waterproofing | PIR delivers high thermal values with less thickness; BarrierSheet ensures fire safety. |
| Poor insulation, old waterproofing | Full replacement: PIR + BarrierSheet + new waterproofing | Cost-efficient when both insulation and waterproofing are outdated. |
| Roof too light for solar (mineral wool insulation) | Remove old layers → PIR + BarrierSheet + new waterproofing | Mineral wool compresses and has poor fire resistance; PIR provides strength and safety. |
| Extra insulation adds too much thickness | Replace old insulation → PIR + BarrierSheet + new waterproofing | PIR achieves U-values without structural modifications; BarrierSheet guarantees safety. |
| Roof too soft (mineral wool compression under PV mounts) | BarrierSheet + new waterproofing | Stabilises the roof surface, prevents PV mounting damage, and resists ignition. |

Submit form (2 minutes)
Provide key details about your roof and challenges via the form at the bottom of this page.
Phone consultation (30 minutes)
We call you to discuss your situation and outline a workable solution. You will know immediately what is technically possible and what this means for insurability.
Documentation for insurer
We provide supporting test reports and risk assessments to convince your insurer. If required, we can assist in finding an insurer that accepts the reduced risk.
On-site survey (60 minutes)
A certified AllShield applicator visits your site, evaluates the condition in detail, and prepares a concrete proposal including cost estimate.
Within approximately two hours of discussions and assessment, you will have a clear view of your options and next steps.
FM Approvals – Blue is FM Approved (4482, repair coating without PV). BarrierSheet is under test (4470/4478). 4484 (PV system standard) in preparation.
ZAG (Slovenia) – proven that fire remains limited to the ignition point, insulation remains intact.
KIWA BDA & Efectis (Netherlands) – tested according to NEN 7250:2021 and BROOF(t1).
Will my roof be insurable after AllShield?
AllShield demonstrably reduces fire risk. This strongly supports insurer acceptance. The final decision always rests with the insurer.
How quickly will I know the cost?
After submitting the form and a short phone consultation, you will receive an initial estimate immediately.
What is the typical investment?
Projects usually start around €100,000. Final costs depend on roof surface, condition, and PV installation.
Is this the same as fire-retardant?
No. Fire-retardant means delayed ignition. Non-combustible means the material provides no fuel at all.
Is it suitable for renovation projects?
Yes. Both BarrierSheet and Blue are suitable for new build and renovation.
Want to know if your roof qualifies and what the investment will be? Complete the form at the bottom of this page. We will call you back and provide a realistic first assessment.
Flat roofs – especially those with solar panels – face an increasing fire risk. Even the best fire-retardant membranes offer limited protection against flying sparks or thermal ignition beneath PV panels. That’s why AllShield developed two non-combustible fire protection systems, each tailored to a specific application.
